I'm not so sure where all the hatred comes from against this movie. I've never seen any of the comics so I have no reference point to base it on. I didn't see it in 3D so that didn't ruin it for me. It was a solid film and my son really enjoyed it. I don't see myself watching it again, or even watching the other "books" if they even get made though.
When I first started this movie, I thought, "wait, Christopher Walken was young?!?" and not to mention a good serious actor!
Full Metal Jacket is a tough act to follow up, but CoW does a great job. Another Vietnam movie looking into the messed up mind of a soldier. 
I watched this movie multiple times growing up, but haven't watched it in over 10 years. 
My first watching after seeing it in the theater last year was a great one! Zombieland didn't lose anything upon the rewatch!
Maybe it had a little to do with the fact that I spent the entire night throwing up, but I didn't enjoy this movie even in the slightest. It is definitely a "drunk/crowd" style movie that would be best enjoyed.
