I found myself with a constant smile while watching the first half of this movie. Clooney was great! Something happens though and everything just stops and we're left with them trying to wrap up everything and it doesn't work.

Master and Commander
Legion
So, watching this movie, all I could think of was, why is the guy from Friday Night Lights the movie in love with the girl from Friday Night Lights the tv show?!?
This movie seemed like it would be a ho-hum movie with some kick ass action in it. Boy was I wrong, there was no kick ass action. I mean there was some great opportunities for human on crazy ice cream man fighting, but they pretty much just shoot and kill. Left a lot to be desired, but I still liked it.

Robin Hood (2010)
A very interesting take on the Robin Hood story. Ridley Scott can direct the hell out of an action movie! A great story, great acting, great score, I just didn't love it for some reason. I can't picture myself watching it over and over, and that's what really gets the 5 star rating from me. I am gonna go ahead and do this though:

That's right. Point ratings!!!

Heist
Caught this one on netflix instant in HD. Trying to catch up on my Mamet films since Brian is such a fan. Really liked this one even though Brian says its his least favorite Mamet.
I'm pretty much a sucker for a good, robbery, bank job, schemer ("they're schemers") type flick and this falls right into my category. Gene Hackman and Sam Rockwell are fun to watch against each other.

Shrek Forever After (non 3d)
Thank god I didn't pay for this, and thank god I didn't see it in 3D. I mostly hate watching anything 3d more than 30 minutes due to the migraine they cause me. (Was worth it for Avatar though)
I actually liked the first two Shrek movies. Never watched the 3rd, but this one was just so blah. I hope this "final chapter" really is.

The Answer Man
Now that the wife has a netflix account, I've been subjected to instant movies that would be no where near my queue. I didn't object to this film at all because I have a super sized crush on Lauren Graham (wife has me addicted to Gilmore Girls) and I really like Jeff Daniels as well.
The movie had a decent story and was well acted. Still your standard rom-com forumla: non-typical connection made, wooing period, something bad splits them apart, fight to get back together.

Pandorum
Having heard nothing about this (shocking, I know), besides the title, I found this on my queue somehow and show up on instant watch.
It ended up be a great outerspace, monster, pyschological thriller. A cool, gritty film, that would have been better enjoyed at night turned up loud, vs my sunday afternoon while the wife naps low volume viewing.

Iron Man 2
Can it survive the hype machine? I say 'yes'! I have to admit that after the teaser trailer came out, I stopped watching any trailer, reviews, etc and I think it really helped. The few updates I did get about it were via twitter (especially seeing it a week late). And nothing ruined it for me.
There was so much geek porn in this movie it was amazing! Tons of marvel universe stuff. ScarJo all over. RDJ being RDJ. Stay tuned for another post just like this one since it looks like I'm going back again tonight to see it again!

F for Fake
I'll admit it, its a rare thing for me to watch a movie that was made before I was born. For some reason, I am just not compelled to watch anything made before 1980. I have been stepping out of my "comfort" realm and watching more and I have seem to have been making good choices (thanks to http://poodfoison.wordpress.com).
F FOR FAKE was a great semi-documentary or whatever it was, that is still keeping me thinking about what I just watched.

Cool Hand Luke
A classic that I had never gotten around to watching until now when it showed up on Instant Watch. It was a bit lengthy and felt slow in quite a few areas, but I generally enjoyed the movie.
I thought that some of the shots were really amazing. Researching it this morning, I found out that the same DP also did American Beauty and Road to Perdition!
